**IMPORTANT MESSAGE**

The Building Department is pleased to announce that we are currently implementing a new permitting/registration software system to better serve our customers and improve overall efficiency. During this transition period, we will not be accepting permit applications or contractor registrations submitted via email.

However, you may still submit them by one of the following methods:

Mail your completed forms along with a check to our office
Visit our office in person to submit your application and payment

We will provide an update as soon as the new system is fully operational and ready to accept applications and registrations through the online portal. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this important upgrade.

Mission Statement

The goal of the Massillon Building Department is to provide the citizens of the City of Massillon with the best customer service possible. Whether assisting residents, design professionals, building owners, landlords, or tenants, we believe everyone deserves individual attention. We welcome your questions, thoughts, and comments.

Since 2013, it is also our pleasure to serve the City of Canal Fulton as their Certified Building Department. It is a continued honor and privilege to be partnered with the historic City of Canal Fulton.

The City of Massillon Building Department regulates the construction, demolition, and occupancy of buildings and structures, within the jurisdiction of the City of Massillon and the City of Canal Fulton, in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents. Specifically, we review, approve, and issue all permits required by the State of Ohio, regarding the new construction, repair, alteration, or addition to all public and private buildings and structures, as well as annually register all construction contractors; including general building trades, home improvement, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
