Food Safety
The Food Safety Program is predominantly responsible for conducting inspections of licensed Food Service Operations (FSO) and Retail Food Establishments (RFE) within the City of Massillon. The purpose of these inspections is to check for any code violations and improper food handling that could affect the publics’ health. In addition to Food Service Operation and Retail Food Establishment inspections, temperature controlled vending machines, mobile food units, and temporary food events are also inspected.
Furthermore, the duties of this unit within the Environmental Health Division include investigating foodborne or facility complaints, conducting a plan review of all new or remodeled FSO/RFE’s, coordinate and teach Level 1 and Level 2 food safety classes, and provide food safety guidance upon request.
The Massillon City Health Department inspects all licensed food facilities within the City Limits.
